What Makes Lupita Overland Epic 🚐🔥

From Jungle Trails to Colourful Towns — We Go Beyond the Guidebook. 🏞️🎨
Home > About Us, Lupita Overland > What Makes Lupita Overland Epic 🚐🔥

Why travellers choose us 🚐💚

We’re all about small-group overland adventures — mixing famous highlights with hidden gems you won’t find on Google. Think culture, nature, and fun, all rolled into one unforgettable ride!

  • Small Groups, Big ConnectionsTravel with just 6–10 like-minded adventurers. Small numbers mean a more personal vibe, less waiting around, and more chances to connect — with both your fellow travellers and the communities we visit.
  • Our Custom Expedition VanMeet Lupita, our third team member! Spacious, comfy, and fully equipped, she is a custom-built overland beast that takes us (and you) to the wild places standard tour buses simply can’t reach.
  • Authentic, Off-the-beaten-path Routes We skip the tourist traps and dive into real local life — artisan markets, jungle trails, mountain villages, and remote beaches. You’ll experience the side of Mesoamerica most travellers never see.
  • Handpicked Stays & One-Million-Star CampingWe handpick charming, perfectly located hotels for our town stays. But the real magic happens outdoors, setting up top-quality camps in unique, remote spots under breathtaking starry skies.
  • Safety FirstYour peace of mind is our priority. We keep our vehicle and gear in top shape, and stay informed on local conditions — so you can relax, have fun, and focus on the adventure ahead.
  • Transparent Pricing90%+ of activities included No nasty surprises! Most activities are already included in your tour price, so you can focus on having fun, not counting costs.

Where Does Your Money Go? 💸

For us, responsible travel isn’t just a marketing trend; it’s a matter of social justice and grassroots empowerment. ✊🏽 That is why 15% of every Lupita expedition goes directly into the hands of local communities. 🤝

And let’s be clear: this is not charity. 🚫 We don’t believe in handouts; we believe in fair trade and genuine partnerships. ⚖️ By collaborating with indigenous cooperatives, eating at family-run stalls 🌮, and hiring independent community guides 🧭, we pay fair rates for authentic, incredible services. We build lasting friendships, learn from each other, and ensure that the people who actually make Mexico, Belize and Guatemala magical ✨ benefit from your visit. ❤️

Sailing tour at Bacalar Lagoon
Jaime | Founder & Expedition Leader 🗺️

💬 “… Jaime was a massive contributor to the amazing trip I had. He was professional, sociable, fun, helpful, supportive and entertaining in equal measure …”

Meet Jaime, the founder and chief map-reader behind Lupita Overland. 🚐💨 Born in Spain but proudly Mexican by choice 🇲🇽, his journey began in 2012, living alongside rural communities as a human rights observer—an experience that shaped his deep commitment to respectful travel. 🌱

After four wild years driving massive expedition trucks across the Americas and Asia with Dragoman 🌍, he realised one truth: nowhere beats Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. He made it his permanent home and built his ultimate dream: Lupita. ✨

Whether he’s behind the wheel, leading the group, or training new guides, Jaime obsesses over the details so you don’t have to. 🧭 (And no, he won’t be your camp chef 👨‍🍳🚫, but he knows exactly where the best street tacos are hidden! 🌮🤤).

Alina at Chichen Itzá
Alina | Strategy & Scouting Advisor 🧭

The strategic mind behind the scenes. 🧠✨ Alina doesn’t just help shape Lupita’s vision from the office 💻; she is on the frontlines during our scouting trips! 🕵️‍♀️🥾 Before any new route is approved for our guests, Alina is there testing the trails, the campsites 🏕️, and making sure the experience meets the true Lupita standard. ⭐✅

Oaxaca, La Ventanilla
Miguel | Special Expeditions Driver 🚐😎

Miguel is part of the Lupita DNA 🧬 and one of our most beloved veteran drivers. ❤️ While his current professional commitments keep him busy 💼, we occasionally manage to kidnap him for special expeditions! 🥷🌴 If you get Miguel at the wheel 🛞, you are in for an incredibly smooth ride and great stories. 🗣️🔥

Oaxaca City, Day of the Dead
José the Muppet | Chief Morale Officer 🎭🥳

Our spiritual guide during chaotic festivals. 🎊👻 When you are dancing in the middle of a massive parade with thousands of people 🕺🪅, look for José floating in the air 🎈—he is your beacon to find the group 📍 and keep the party going safely! 🙌✨

Rollo at the office
Rollo the Cat | Basecamp Manager 🐈🏕️

Rollo handles the heavy logistics from the comfort of the couch. 🛋️📋 He ensures all maps are thoroughly slept on 🗺️💤 and provides critical moral support during the planning phases of our expeditions. 😻✨

The Local Legends (The Soul of Lupita) 🌟🤝

We work with the very best official guides and local specialists for each activity. 🗺️🏅 Lupita Overland is nothing without the extended family that opens their doors to us across the country. ❤️🏡 They are the guardians of the culture 🏺, the cooks of the best meals you’ll ever have 👩🏽‍🍳🌮, and the direct beneficiaries of our community impact. 🌱✨

Don’t just take our word for it… 💬🌟

We could go on all day about how amazing our tours are, but the real proof comes from the people who’ve travelled with us. Check out our reviews and see what our adventurers have to say — their stories and smiles speak louder than we ever could!

Ready for the ultimate Mexican road trip? 🌵✨

Happy trails! 🚐🎸
