Your safety is our top priority, and we equipped our vehicle with numerous features to ensure secure and comfortable journeys.
As a new vehicle, Lupita boasts a reduced probability of mechanical issues, coupled with a factory frame that provides enhanced protection compared to traditional aluminium frames used in overland vehicles. Additionally, we adhere to a stringent mechanical check procedure to maintain optimal performance.
Every passenger and crew member is required to wear seatbelts, with Lupita being one of the few vehicles offering 3-point retractable seatbelts. For added safety, emergency hammers and fire extinguishers are readily available, and our slightly tinted windows deter the visibility of valuables left inside. In case of emergencies, we provide two comprehensive first aid kits—one onboard and one portable for hiking excursions. Plus, hand sanitiser is mandatory for all passengers upon vehicle entry.
We equipped our vehicle with a backup camera for reversing and a front dashcam to record any incidents. A GPS tracking system is always active, and an extra alarm augments our security measures. Additionally, our van has a comprehensive recovery system, including mechanical tools, spare parts, an additional battery for jump-starting, a tyre inflator, sand mats, and digging shovels.
Our designated main drivers undergo rigorous internal testing and hold a Mexican Bus License, with extensive experience navigating local routes for tourist services. Jaime, our secondary driver, brings years of experience driving Overland trucks worldwide and holds a European bus license. We enforce strict rules regarding rest periods and alcohol consumption, ensuring our drivers are fit and alert for every journey.
Hygiene is super important during your adventure to keep you and your fellow travellers in good shape. We recommend following our hygiene measures at every moment.
Firstly, it is compulsory to use hand sanitiser every time we enter our vehicle. Moreover, we provide small hand sanitiser bottles at the beginning of the tour and you can refill them as much as you want. We also provide surgical masks for those who want to use them.
We frequently disinfect our vehicle interior to ensure hygiene on board. Moreover, we added one extra opening window to improve air ventilation. We take special care with all cooking equipment and use purified water for washing dishes while camping. Additionally, we make sure you stay hydrated by providing as much potable water as you want from our sealed 20-litre bottles.
Insurances help us to be confident about offering you the safest experience. We strongly suggest that you purchase medical travel insurance (please check here for further details). On top of that, anyone travelling inside our vehicle is insured in case of an accident.
All our crew is insured either by the Mexican Social Services, Private Medical Insurance or both, depending on their contract, nationality and the Countries they are working.
We follow travel advice from different countries. We take into account any important update in order to make decisions connected with security, health, local law and customs in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize.
