The Acatenango Volcano trek is our standard included activity. This might well be Guatemala’s most famous hike thanks to its stunning views over the ever-erupting Volcán de Fuego. It’s also one of the tougher climbs, with a steep two-day ascent through forest and volcanic ash.
A less demanding option is the morning hike through the skirts of Pacaya Volcano, situated an hour’s drive from Antigua Guatemala. This is one of the easier ways to get close to an active volcano. Hikers will get the opportunity to toast marshmallows on volcanic rock.
