In the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, eight remote villages known as Pueblos Mancomunados carry a unique eco-tourism project. Communally, they offer great escapes and an up-close communion with Zapotec life. Elevations in these hills range over 3,200 metres, and the landscapes, with canyons, caves and panoramic lookouts, are spectacular.
We will hike through high-country trails between beautiful villages and places of interest. Moreover, we will learn from a Mazatec cook how to prepare some local gastronomy. Occasionally, we will also enjoy an explanation of the different medicinal plants found in this area.
