All our tours include shared accommodation. Please note standards might vary depending on the area. Visiting remote places requires flexibility. Yet, we always enjoy relaxing days at nice hotels.
Around 60% of the accommodation we use is 3-4 star hotels. They have twin, double or triple rooms, private bathrooms and hot showers. But some of them may share toilets and showers. When in cities, we make sure to stay at the centre. Our selected hotels have group meeting areas and a colonial touch when possible. We care greatly about our accommodation and always try to book the best-rated hotels!
Camping is the best way of travelling through the natural wonders of Mesoamerica. Around 20% of our accommodation is usually established camping with basic facilities. It is often possible to “upgrade” in cabins when arriving. In every tour, we include all the sleeping gear and accommodate 2 people in every 4-person tent. Sometimes, there may be some extra tents available if you want to camp alone.
Cultural interaction is very important for us. Thus, many of our itineraries include community stays in picturesque places. This is a wonderful way to experience the local’s hospitality and witness their way of life. Around 20% of the accommodation is usually multi-shared basic cabins. Many of these with shared toilets and showers. In most cases, it is possible to put on your tent if you want extra privacy.
We offer a Backpacker’s Edition for some of our tours, where adventure meets affordability in the most vibrant and fun way! Our Backpacker’s Editions tours offer a unique blend of basic hotels, camping nights, and approximately 30% of stays in hostels featuring multi-shared dorms. While we make every effort to provide single-gender rooms and minimize interactions with non-tour participants, we cannot guarantee this in all instances. Participants should feel at ease sharing accommodations with individuals of various genders and fellow backpackers not affiliated with our group. Please note that accommodations may vary, and we strive to ensure fairness by rotating optimal conditions whenever possible.
We include enough days in our start/finish cities to enjoy the main attractions. Yet, we can arrange pre-trip and post-trip accommodation for you. If that is your case, please tell us when filling out your pre-departure form. Please note our prices don’t include last-minute rates or internet specials. Thus, you may find cheaper prices than the ones we apply. You can find the contact details on every tour page if you prefer to make the booking on your own.
Upgrades to private rooms while in hostels and campings are often available but not guaranteed and cannot be pre-booked. Our staff can assist you in booking your upgrade when possible. Priority is given to the crew for optimal rest, particularly the driver. If there are limited upgrades, they will be allocated on a rotational basis to ensure fairness.
If camping is not your thing, please avoid high-challenge trips. You can also enquire us about our tailor-made trips. Note we normally don’t offer single accommodation as some hotels have reduced availability. Yet, if you want to have your room, you can usually pay the difference and upgrade.
When you book your tour with your friends, you will share the room with them unless you prefer not to. If you book “solo”, you will share the room with other passengers from your same gender on a rotation basis. This way there is good interaction between everyone in the group!
There will be occasions when the accommodation conditions may be deferred. For example, a twin room that has one big bed and one small. Or some rooms may have air-con and some do not, etc… We will do our best to reduce these differences by rotating between everyone in the group. But we ask you for flexibility with this.
Moreover, you may make a very good friend, or even that you meet the love of your life while on the trip (yes, it sometimes happens!). Feel free to talk with us at any moment about your rooming preferences. Make sure we will do our best to put you together with your new mate if both parties want.
Finally, it is important to mention that sometimes it won’t be possible to stay at the hotels mentioned on our site. This may especially happen during high season and/or when in very touristy areas. If there is a change in the accommodation location, we will book a similar hotel. If the alternative is cheaper, you can expect a refund.

You can get a list of available activities on your trip notes. Plus, you can also consult any of the guidebooks we provide. Note a few activities may be cancelled or modified due to their unpredictability. In those cases, we will offer you alternatives or refunds.
In our tours, we divide meals as Included, Cook Group or Own Expense. You can check all expected meals by downloading the “Trip Schedule” of each tour. Please note these plans may vary due to the very nature of our tours.
Please explain to us any dietary requirements and/or allergies when booking. This way, we can plan the included menus in advance. We do our best to respect all dietary options. In the case of included meals, there will be a vegetarian or vegan option for those who prefer. While camping, we cook meat in separate pans and you can ask us if you prefer not to get involved in any meat cooking. When in restaurants, bear in mind that dietary requirements might be challenging. Yet, we will give you a hand to find the best solution.

We recommend you have a good look at the itineraries so you can plan in advance if you prefer to skip any activity. It is important that you tell us when booking so we can arrange everything for you. Otherwise, we may not be able to refund you.
