“… Jaime was a massive contributor to the amazing trip I had. He was professional, sociable, fun, helpful, supportive and entertaining in equal measure …”
Meet Jaime, the heart and soul of Lupita Overland! Hailing from Spain, Jaime brings a wealth of experience to our team as an overland tour leader and driver for remarkable years.
Jaime’s journey with Mexico began in 2012 when he immersed himself in the indigenous communities as a human rights watcher for two years. His passion for exploration led him to join Dragoman, a renowned overland company, in 2014. For four adventurous years, Jaime crisscrossed the Americas and Asia, leading expeditions and delving into Mesoamerican routes.
In 2018, Jaime made Mexico his permanent home, fueling his dream of founding Lupita Overland. Since then, he has poured his heart and soul into crafting unforgettable journeys. In 2023, Jaime successfully launched Lupita’s tours across Central and South Mexico, meticulously planning the very best routes for our travellers.
As the main Tour Leader and secondary Driver on all our tours, Jaime ensures every detail is perfect, promising you’ll be in capable hands throughout your adventure with us at Lupita Overland!
“… Miguel was fantastic! He drove smoothly and prioritized our comfort. He loves to interact with every local and we felt safe at every moment with him …”
Meet Miguel, our fantastic driver who ensures your safety and comfort are always top priorities! Hailing from Mexico City, Miguel brings years of expertise gained from working with tourist companies across Mexico.
His extensive experience not only encompasses driving and safety but also includes invaluable knowledge of routes, potential stops, accommodations, and activities. As Jaime’s right-hand man, Miguel plays a pivotal role in ensuring that every aspect of your journey with Lupita Overland is seamless and enjoyable.
Lupita Overland’s Family
At Lupita Overland, our commitment to providing you with the ultimate travel experience begins with our exceptional team and collaborators.
From the outset, Jaime’s family, Paloma and Pepe, provided crucial financing, while Rebeca and Lety, supported the project legally and contributed to its infrastructure. María also played a significant role in the project’s early stages.
In our office, Alina, Jaime’s partner, serves as a vital consultant, assisting in decision-making and supporting Jaime in all aspects. Meanwhile, Miguel, our accountant, ensures seamless management of tax declarations with remarkable efficiency.
On the road, our local experts enhance your journey with their wealth of knowledge and insights, whether you’re exploring archaeological sites, cultural attractions, community projects, or gastronomical experiences. They’re not just guides; they’re cherished members of the Lupita Overland family, and we’re deeply grateful for their dedication.
To all our family and collaborators, ¡Gracias Amig@s! Your expertise and support ensure our travellers embark on unforgettable adventures. 😉
Lupita’s: South Mexico Wonders, Day of the Dead Edition (2025)
Our overland journey with Lupita was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, it was an adventure every single day, filled with colour, culture, and connection.
Our tour leaders, Jaime and Gustavo, were exemplary in every way; knowledgeable, attentive, and endlessly enthusiastic. Jaime’s excellent communication and management skills kept everything running smoothly, while both guides made sure every traveler felt included, comfortable, safe and well taken care of.
Each day brought wonderful sites and awesome activities, from ancient ruins to vibrant markets and charming colonial towns. The fantastic hotel locations were memorable, offering a comfortable mix of local flavour and relaxation after full days of exploration.
One of the best parts was traveling with like-minded adventures who shared the same curiosity and spirit of discovery. Together we enjoyed authentic experiences that revealed the true heart of southern Mexico.
The local guides added tremendous depth to our understanding of each destination, and the meals from street food to elegant dinners, were truly memorable.
Of course, the highlight was the Day of the Dead celebrations in Oaxaca, a spectacular, fascinating, emotional, and unforgettable experience that captured the essence of Mexico’s vibrant traditions.
For those adventurous travelers who need to check off their bucket list some amazing destinations this IS the trip for you. Chichen Itzá, Calakmul, Palenque, San Cristóbal de las Casas, San Juan Chamula, El Sumidero Canyon, Oaxaca: Day of the Dead, Monte Albán, Teotihuacán, Frida Kahlo’s house and the Xochimilco channels to name but a few.
Every moment felt thoughtfully curated and full of meaning, with a strong emphasis on supporting local projects and businesses. Lupita Overland delivered not just a tour, but an unforgettable adventure that will stay with us for years to come. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic travel, cultural immersion, and a touch of adventure.
Wow Guy and Reeka,
It’s honestly an honour to receive this feedback, especially coming from such experienced travellers! Having you in our Lupita group was an absolute blast — you were fantastic travel companions for everyone, and as true social conveners, you added so much fun, energy, and great vibes to the whole team.
Gustavo and I (Jaime) send you both a very big hug and our warmest thanks. We truly hope our paths cross again in the future. Safe travels and happy trails, amig@s! 🚐🌎✨
We have recently completed a three-week tour – South Mexico Wonders from Mexico city to Tulum.
The trip itself is fantastic (see main review).
However, a great trip only becomes a fantastic trip because of the crew.
Jaime is a godsend on any overlanding trip. His infectious enthusiasm and great sense of humour, along with a friendly and humble approach to everyone he meets en route, really do make this trip a special event.
Nothing is too much trouble and he cares dearly about showing all the amazing things there are to see in Mexico to its true value. Whether it is dealing with guides, hotel proprietors (some more difficult than others!), host families or his clients, it is always done with a smile – yet a determination to ensure that the true spirit of the trip and general good grace is maintained.
It’s our second time travelling with Jaime and, hopefully, there will be more to come.
Our driver, Cesar, is so much fun. Handled the vehicle smoothly and safely and was gracious throughout. He ensured that maximum comfort was upheld at all times and nothing was ever too much for him. A great sense of humour and a great storyteller. His taste in music is pretty good, too!
And a final call to the people behind the scenes, particularly Alina, who we were fortunate to meet, and who clearly supports everything that Jaime does and provides much of the inspiration to showcase this fascinating country.
Wow, thanks so much for your review Tim and Lesley! ???
We are so happy to know that you enjoyed the trip, and hope to see you many more times. All your family and friends are also very welcome!
Alina and I send you very big abrazos amig@s!
I just completed 21 days with Lupita on their Mexico City to Tulum trip, Spring 2023.
Jaime’s attention to detail is amazing. His boundless energy and enthusiasm is without equal.
His patience, kindness and politeness is evident to everyone he encounters.
However, what sets Jaime apart from the others I have worked is this:
He has the uncanny ability to create a cohesive group of people from various continents who began as strangers and yet finished his tour as friends.
His special talent is that he makes a friend of everyone he meets.
But, don’t let his easy going nature fool you.
He has a back-bone of steel.
He can resolve any conflict with grace.
Cesar, our driver, was genuine and sweet spirted.
He took our safety seriously and never lost patience or acted rashly. Cesar kept us safe.
He was also a magician.
We held our breath as he maneuvered our van, Lupita, in and out of tight parking spots.
More than once, the passengers broke into cheers after witnessing him squeeze past what appeared to be an impossible obstacle.
Cesar is the best of the best. I would feel privileged to be his passenger any time.
Together, Jaime and Cesar made a wonderful team.
Together, they delivered a remarkable experience and a worthwhile adventure.
Bravo, bravo. Well done!
Wow, thanks so much, Karen! Such lovely words make us very proud and encourage us to keep organising more expeditions!
Thanks to you and the rest of the group for making it possible. See you on the next one!
Cesar, Alina and I send you very big abrazos from Mexico City!???
Hi Jaime, How nice is’n it to see you here back on the road again! The pleasure I had with you as an amazing tour leader, brilliant at looking after us, the truck and making the whole trip to a unforgetable success. My Dragoman tour all the way from Anchorage to Rio was one of the best ever of my loads of miles and memories from around the world. Filled with amazing memories from a long life, I am still trying to heal my congenital incurable travel fever. After 50 years on the road I am still every now and then to be found on the move, read road, at sea or in the air. Just back from a month on the road through 4 countries in southern Africa. It would have been amazing to see you behind the wheel driving through Mexico once more. You are as driver and tour leader someone special and I wish you and your travel companions all the best of luck on the road for many years to come. By the way, if you ever drive the wrong way at an intersection and by mistake end up here in Norway, pls call me!
Hola amigo Ike, thanks so much for your lovely comment. I’m flattered!
Yep, I’m so happy to be back en route. The same as you, I have a travel fever and it is getting high!
You, your friends and your family are always welcome to join us whenever you want. We became friends while on our trip together and it would be such an honour to meet you again. You have such a wonderful vibe, it is contagious! I take your word about Norway, hope I can visit your country any of these days!
I used to work with Jaime at Dragoman Overseas Travel, and I can say without doubt he’s an amazing tour leader, passionate and knowledgable about the region, brilliant at looking after his clients and making every trip a success.
I hope to join you at some point in the future! Best of luck, Helen
