Welcome to Belize! We recommend arriving ideally in the morning, so we can catch the boat to Caye Caulker Island the same day. If you prefer, spend your first night in Belize City, a perfect stop to explore the local vibe. Wander around the Belize City pier and discover charming restaurants, or if you’re already heading to Caye Caulker, you can explore the island’s relaxed beauty upon arrival.
Today, we’ll take a boat to the tranquil island of Caye Caulker. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the laid-back Caribbean atmosphere, where the pace is slow, and the vibes are always good. You’ll have the afternoon to unwind, explore, or groove to some reggae beats. As the sun sets, enjoy dinner at your own expense, perhaps followed by some optional beer time to cap off the day.
Today is all about the vibrant underwater world of Caye Caulker. Kick off with a snorkel tour, where you’ll be treated to a dazzling display of marine life. Swim alongside nurse sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, and manatees, all while marvelling at the colourful coral formations.
In the afternoon, the choice is yours: unwind on the beach, soak in the island’s reggae vibes, or take an optional island-tubing tour—pure relaxation, island style.
After returning to the mainland by boat, we’ll journey to the charming Hopkins Village. Our destination is Kalipuna Island, where we’ll cross a mangrove by boat to reach Palmento Grove—a centre dedicated to preserving Garifuna traditions and showcasing the mangrove’s natural beauty. Savour a traditional lunch before diving into an afternoon of cultural exploration, including drumming, dancing, and cooking. As night falls, embark on a boat tour through the mangrove to witness the magical bioluminescence lighting up the water.
Our day begins with a visit to Belize’s Tropical Education Center. Here, you’ll encounter over 200 animals representing 45 native species, all of which were orphaned, rescued, or rehabilitated. This visit offers a unique introduction to Belize’s wildlife and the importance of preserving their natural habitats.
In the afternoon, you’re free to explore the offerings at Lower Dover. Discover the nearby Mayan ruins, stroll through the medicinal plants garden, or take a refreshing swim in the river. Unwind and connect with nature at your own pace.
Today, we drift through Belize’s enchanting underground river system as you float on an inner tube, surrounded by stunning stalactites, crystal-clear waters, and lush jungle scenery. This relaxing yet adventurous experience will take you deep into the heart of the Maya underworld.
Today, we cross into Guatemala, arriving at the charming island of Flores on Lake Petén Itzá. Known as the gateway to Tikal, this colourful town offers a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. After settling in, your afternoon is free to discover.
Stroll through Flores’ streets, swim in the serene lake, or rent a kayak for some light adventure. Optional activities include visiting the ARCAS Wildlife Rescue Center, swimming at Jorge’s Rope Swing, or hiking to the Mirador viewpoint—each may require a short boat ride. As evening falls, unwind with a drink at a lakeside café.
Get ready to explore Tikal, Guatemala’s most jaw-dropping Mayan site! This afternoon, we’ll venture into the heart of the jungle to uncover the secrets of one of the Maya’s greatest cities. With our expert guide, you’ll dive into the history of towering temples and sprawling plazas. We’ll spend about 4 hours soaking up the awe-inspiring ruins as the setting sun casts a magical glow over the site. It’s a must-see adventure packed with history and breathtaking views!

After returning to our jungle retreat, the afternoon is yours to enjoy however you like—paddle through the serene waterways on a kayak tour, spot wildlife, or simply relax and unwind in the lush surroundings. The day wraps up with a delicious group dinner, sharing stories of our adventures. 🛶✨
Today, we hit the road and trade the lush jungles for the cobblestone streets of Antigua, one of Guatemala’s most picturesque colonial towns. Upon arrival, you’ll feel the enchanting vibe of this UNESCO World Heritage site, surrounded by volcanoes and filled with charming streets, vibrant markets, and colourful buildings. Settle in, stretch your legs, and get ready to explore this incredible destination.
A guided morning hike around Pacaya Volcano offers a unique chance to experience an active volcano, where you can even roast marshmallows on volcanic rock! While you might not see flowing lava, the experience is a fantastic way to get close to Guatemala’s fiery landscape.
After the hike, the rest of the day is yours to explore Antigua. Discover the city’s charm with optional activities like visiting downtown, Cerro de la Cruz, the local market, Capuchinas Convent, or Chocomuseo.
Today, we start with a visit to the Mayapedal Community Project, where donated bike parts are transformed into pedal-powered machines for remote communities without electricity. This initiative helps locals with essential tasks like grinding grain or generating power.
In the afternoon, we head to Panajachel, nestled by the stunning Lake Atitlán. We’ll pause at a viewpoint to take in the breathtaking vistas of this volcanic lake surrounded by lush valleys and traditional Mayan villages. Once we arrive, enjoy a free evening to explore the charming town and soak up the unique atmosphere of one of Guatemala’s most beautiful destinations.
Today starts with a picturesque boat ride across Lake Atitlán to the Lower Mayan Trail, where you’ll hike through stunning landscapes and interact with local farmers. Afterwards, we’ll visit the Amigos de Santa Cruz NGO’s Occupational Center. This inspiring organization provides vocational training and support to local artisans and craftspeople. You’ll enjoy a meal prepared in their restaurant. Return to Panajachel in the afternoon for some well-deserved free time to explore.

Your tour features a blend of activities and a few longer driving days. You’ll have some treks, so a standard fitness level and adventurous spirit are important. While no prior experience is required, you should be comfortable with swimming and hiking. Expect to encounter heat and humidity, but you’ll also have opportunities to relax at comfortable hotels and scenic spots.
You’ll need to carry your bags in certain situations, such as from parking to the hotel or onto boats, and be prepared to navigate stairs and high steps at archaeological sites and in the van. Some activities, such as the Pacaya Hike, may involve challenging terrain or high altitudes.
Belize and East Guatemala are fantastic year-round destinations, but the sweet spot for your trip is from November to May. This is when the weather is typically drier, cooler, and less humid, making it ideal for exploring. For the last bit of our tour, the Guatemalan highlands offer pleasant hiking weather, with lows around 10°C and highs of 27°C. For those joining us on the Acatenango volcano, be ready for chilly nights at around 4000m above sea level.
