We had a wonderful 10-day family trip through Chiapas with Jaime from Lupita Overland, travelling from Oaxaca City through Tehuantepec, Juchitán, Tuxtla, San Cristóbal, Palenque and back, with plenty of stops along the way. Jaime was considerate, flexible and very helpful from the start. It was clear how much he loves Chiapas, and he was genuinely excited to show us around, which made the trip feel much more personal. We visited caves, gorges, waterfalls, ruins, local food places and cultural spots, and felt we were able to see a lot without the days becoming too much. We travelled as a family with our 5-year-old son, which was a new type of trip for Jaime, but it worked really well. The itinerary was full, but not over-packed. There was still time for our son to rest, play and swim in the hotel pools, and the longer driving days were broken up with good stops, so the travel never felt too hard. The van, Lupita, was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, and the hotels Jaime arranged were lovely throughout the trip. We always felt safe and well looked after, while still feeling like we were having a proper adventure through a really beautiful part of Mexico. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and are very grateful to Jaime for making it such a memorable experience. We’d happily recommend Lupita Overland to anyone wanting to explore Chiapas or other parts of Mexico in a comfortable, flexible and personal way.😎Posted on Google![]()

Our family of three, including our 5 year old son, has just returned from an epic 10 day road trip with Jaime in his awesome Lupita van. A round trip from Oaxaca to Chiapas and back to Oaxaca, with so many beautiful, interesting, and memorable stops along the way. This was a fantastic family friendly tour of Chiapas region. Jaime created a journey that gave us a wonderful mix of nature, culture, history, food, and local experiences. We visited dramatic canyons, caves, waterfalls, community villages, local markets, colonial cities, archaeological ruins, cultural festivals, traditional handicraft workshops, and places to try delicious regional food and drinks. It was exactly the kind of trip we hoped for: full of adventure and variety, but still paced well enough for travelling with a young child. Jaime was excellent from the very beginning. He was organised, communicative, flexible, and thoughtful throughout both the planning and the trip itself. He is especially good at setting and managing expectations, which made the whole experience feel smooth and relaxed. We always knew what to expect, but the trip still felt personal and full of discovery. What made the experience really special was Jaime himself. He is calm, kind, and great with families. He works respectfully with local communities and clearly has a deep love for Chiapas and the people, landscapes, traditions, and culture of the region. It was a joy to have him share his knowledge, experience, and passion with us. We also now know that Jaime covers trips through many other regions of Mexico, as well as some parts of Central America, which makes Lupita Overland a great option not only for Chiapas, but for anyone looking for a private, flexible, and meaningful overland travel experience more broadly. We highly recommend Jaime and Lupita Overland to anyone looking for a private or small group tour operator, family road trip, overland tour. We would absolutely travel with Jaime again and hope to do more trips with him when we return to Mexico.Posted on Google![]()

Traveling with Lupita Overland was amazing!! The group I travelled with was a great mix of people, and everyone was participating to achieve a fun and memorable experience. We saw so much of Mexican culture, and we experienced so much of the rich culture as well. I had never been on a tour like this before, and I was a bit nervous for it, but within two days on tour, I felt comfortable with Jamie and Cass, I was on the Mayan Tour Mexico Cass Edition. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat. We saw Spider Monkeys drinking from a Cenote, listened to Howler Monkeys at Calakmul while we explored and climbed...I attempted to climb....at the Maya Archeological Site in the middle of the jungle, and met amazing people who shared their cultural traditions with us. I think I'll be on another Lupita Adventure in no time. Thank you Jamie and Cass for an amazing and memorable experience!+3Posted on Facebook![]()

I was fortunate to collaborate with Lupita to run a tour through Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Campeche and Yucatán. What I saw from Jaime on throughout this trip was a perfect blend of professionalism, enthusiasm for Mexico, and respect for everyone. He knows Mexico extremely well and safety is always his number one priority. Highly recommended.Posted on Facebook![]()

We visited a wonderful range of natural, archaeological and cultural sites and learned so much about the areas we traveled through. We had deep conversations and lots of laughs. Beyond expectations We had the best holiday travelling through Belize and Guatemala with Lupita. Largely due to Jaime’s extensive knowledge of the area and professional guidance; sensitively combining the needs of local communities and our needs. All in keeping with their responsible tourism ethos Both country’s were amazing and we liked the combination of cultural and wildlife/nature experiences offered throughout the trip. Swimming with sharks in Caye Caulker, the Rio Dolce river trip and Tikal were amongst our highlights. We felt we really got an understanding of both countries.Posted on Google![]()

I booked the “South Mexico Wonders, Day of the Dead Edition” with Lupita Overland Adventures. The was a 21-day adventure through several Mexican states: Quintina Roo, Yucatan, Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, and ending in Mexico City. The entire trip was by road with a small group of 10 in a van named “Lupita.” The trip organizer, Jamie and support crew, Gustavo arranged an amazing itinerary with unique and rewarding activities. Snorkeling in the beautiful Caribbean, swimming in secluded cenotes, boating and swimming in the crystal clear Bacalar lagoon, watching with awe as bats exit a sinkhole, observing the fantastic scenery and wildlife while boating in the El Sumidero Canyon, the joy of a turtle liberation on the Ventanilla beaches, a relaxing mangrove boat tour, hiking at Hierve el Agua, and the wonders of camping in Tehuacán-Cuicatlan Biosphere Reserve (the world’s largest cactus reserve). Along the way we took a deep dive into the Mexican culture with archeological stops: Chichén Itzá, Calakmul, Palenque, Monte Albán, and Teotihuacán and local community projects: Xyaat Mayan cooperative (an environmental conservation organization), Mujeres Sembrando La Vida (Women Sowing Life), and Manos Que Ven artist workshop. Last but not least, Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration in Oaxaca! Amazing local dress, grand parade, and local neighborhood gatherings. There is nothing else like it! It was an amazing adventure. Jamie and Gustavo were exceptional at leading the group and ensuring everyone got the most out of their journey. I highly recommend Lupita Overland Adventures and the team of Jamie Gonzalez and Gustavo Pech.+31Posted on Google![]()

Lupita’s: South Mexico Wonders, Day of the Dead Edition (2025) Our overland journey with Lupita was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, it was an adventure every single day, filled with colour, culture, and connection. Our tour leaders, Jaime and Gustavo, were exemplary in every way; knowledgeable, attentive, and endlessly enthusiastic. Jaime’s excellent communication and management skills kept everything running smoothly, while both guides made sure every traveler felt included, comfortable, safe and well taken care of. Each day brought wonderful sites and awesome activities, from ancient ruins to vibrant markets and charming colonial towns. The fantastic hotel locations were memorable, offering a comfortable mix of local flavour and relaxation after full days of exploration. One of the best parts was traveling with like-minded adventures who shared the same curiosity and spirit of discovery. Together we enjoyed authentic experiences that revealed the true heart of southern Mexico. The local guides added tremendous depth to our understanding of each destination, and the meals from street food to elegant dinners, were truly memorable. Of course, the highlight was the Day of the Dead celebrations in Oaxaca, a spectacular, fascinating, emotional, and unforgettable experience that captured the essence of Mexico’s vibrant traditions. For those adventurous travelers who need to check off their bucket list some amazing destinations this IS the trip for you. Chichen Itzá, Calakmul, Palenque, San Cristóbal de las Casas, San Juan Chamula, El Sumidero Canyon, Oaxaca: Day of the Dead, Monte Albán, Teotihuacán, Frida Kahlo’s house and the Xochimilco channels to name but a few. Every moment felt thoughtfully curated and full of meaning, with a strong emphasis on supporting local projects and businesses. Lupita Overland delivered not just a tour, but an unforgettable adventure that will stay with us for years to come. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic travel, cultural immersion, and a touch of adventure.+13Posted on Google![]()

Mito, the person in charge at Lupita, gave us invaluable guidance! She dedicated time and effort to doing an excellent job recommending the best options in Mexico. It's clear that at Lupita they care about providing the best advice, going beyond the typical tourist spots. This is the added value that's so hard to find in packaged services that lack personalization. It was a pleasure to be assisted by Lupita/Mito, and lucky for any clients who find them!

What a Trip! We had always wanted to visit Mexico and particularly for the period around Day of The Dead. Lupita Overland built an entire 3 week trip around these dates, which was amazing, and we joined a group of 7 others and off we went.Starting in Mexico City we travelled overland visiting Oaxaca, San Cristobal, a number of Mayan sites, Lagos and open cenotes. This trip had everything we could have wished for.Jaimie is professional, efficient, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. He went above and beyond to ensure everyone in the group was happy. We can't recommend Lupita Overland strongly enough and hope to go on another adventure with them in the very near future.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Last Spring I travelled on Lupita Overland’s "Wonders of Mexico" Trip Last year my husband and I spent 21 days traveling from Mexico City to Yucatán with Lupita. Lupita specializes in small group travel and they delivered an outstanding product. We swam in cenotes and beneath waterfalls, sailed on the Lagoon in Balacar. Most importantly we visited the most difficult to reach Mayan ruins, where Jaime had arranged for an English speaking guide who specialized in that particular ruin and region. There was something for everyone on the trip. Jaime was willing to accommodate all tastes. My husband and I opted out of the camping option entirely and took advantage of the reasonably priced hotel upgrades.Jaime González is a fabulous leader. His enthusiam was infectious. He was like the energizer bunny and attended to every detail of our trip. I had studied Spanish as a child, but I was completely unprepared for how important it would be to have a Spanish speaking guide outside of the tourist centers, We traveled well off the tourist trail and few people we encountered spoke English. Jaime always made himself available to translate. We swam in cenotes and beneath waterfalls, sailed on the Lagoon in Balacar. Most importantly we visited the most difficult to reach Mayan ruins. At each stop, Jaime had arranged for an outstanding English speaking guide who specialized in that particular ruin and region. The custom designed van carried a full library of speciality guidebooks and Jaime was extremely knowledgeable and articulate. I appreciated the spaciousness of the van and the ability to have purified water 24 hours a day. There was something for everyone on the trip. Jaime was willing to accommodate all tastes. My husband and I opted out of the camping option entirely and took advantage of the reasonably priced hotel upgrades.I cannot say enough about the Lupita and Jaime. I am a veteran of many overseas adventure travel trips across Africa and Asia. From start to finish, the trip was outstanding.Posted on Google![]()

As a first-time overlander, I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The value for money is excellent, with at least one included activity daily, ensuring you make the most of your time in Mexico. It strikes a perfect balance, offering a blend of culture, breathtaking landscapes and interactions with locals. Highlights included: the Day of the Dead parades with face painting and visits to genuine places like La Ventanilla , complementing the iconic typical sites.+8Posted on Facebook![]()

Fabulous Leader, Wonderful Company !!! I just returned from completing Lupita's Wonders of Mexico Trip Spring 2023. We traveled from Mexico City to Tulum in 21 days. Jaime González is a fabulous leader. His enthusiam was infectious. He was like the energizer bunny. We swam in cenotes, sailed on the Lagoon in Balacar, dipped in waterfalls, and visited difficult to reach Mayan ruins. There was something for everyone on the trip. It was also possible to opt out of camping entirely if you preferred. I cannot say enough about the company. I fell in the airport in route to Mexico City. Due to a knee injury, I could not participate in some of the activities. However, Jaime was wonderful. He bent over backwards to make sure I was included and made special accommodations so I could continue with the tour. He was endlessly patient and kind. He never made be feel as if my injury was an inconvenience. Even though it clearly was. I am a veteran of many overseas adventure travel trips. Jaime is top notch and is one of the very best leaders I have traveled with across several continents. His attention to detail was outstanding and he brought his professionalism to every aspect of the trip. From start to finish, the trip was outstanding. This portion of the review was added December 2023. I was able to join Lupita’s "Genuine Mexico, Day of the Dead Edition” from Mexico City to Oaxaca. Jaime González graciously allowed me to join the group because I was unable to fully participate in the first week of my "Wonders of Mexico" trip in Spring 2023 due to my knee injury. Because the van was full, Jaime booked tickets for Ralph and I on an ADO Luxury bus and we met the group in Oaxaca. I am a graduate of ITMI (The International Tour Management Institute in California, USA). I graduated from their in-person 4 week course as a Certified Tour Director in 1982. It is from the perspective of that training that I write this review. Most tours can drive you to the various sites and deliver you to a hotel. The dirty little secret about group travel is the power of the Tour Director to make or break a trip. Blindness to human nature, the inability to “read” the group, can kill a trip. Only very special leaders can work their magic on a group of strangers and and watch them depart the trip as true friends. What sets Lupita apart from other companies is Jaime's keen awareness of how groups function. This understanding gives Jaime the uncanny ability to bring out the best in everyone who participates—passengers, crew, hotel staff, local guides. The end result is a cohesive group which functions well and where everyone has fun. I am a veteran of more than 15 group adventures….Intrepid, Dragoman, Guerba, Exodus and Abercrombie & Kent Jaime's “ Day of the Dead” trip stands out as one of the best group experiences I have ever had. I know a good Tour Director when I see one. Jaime is one of those very special leaders. Lupita is the company which his vision created. Together Jaime and Lupita invites his passengers to participate once in a life time experience.Posted on Facebook![]()

I was a passenger on the inaugural trip in March/April 2023 - South Mexico Wonders - for three weeks. It is an amazing itinerary with highlights every day. The trip is diverse; history. culture, Mayan sites, beautiful colonial cities, jungle, mountains, wildlife, beaches, lakes - the list goes on! The tour leader, Jaime, is exceptional - enthusiastic, inspirational and friendly to everyone he meets. Nothing is too much trouble and the trip was very well-organised. Add to this a great driver in Cesar, both safe and helpful, and the whole trip ran smoothly, was a wonderful experience and full of laughter I would highly recommend Lupita Overland to anyone interested in visiting Mexico and sharing a unique experience.Posted on Google![]()
